NORTH MOLTON PARISH COUNCIL CONTINUE TAKING THE INITIATIVE IN TACKLING DRAINAGE ISSUES IN THE PARISH.

For the past few years NMPC has used local contractors to concentrate on the roads that regularly flood. We have carried out a campaign of edge ploughing throughout the parish to get water off the roads and into the existing gullies, and will continue to focus on problem areas each winter.

Our contractor also regularly maintains the existing drainage system by clearing gullies, drains and grips, as well as putting in new drainage works as necessary. We have also carried out jetting work where gullies and drains are completely blocked. The photos below show new drainage works put in place by the contractor at Little Coombeshead Cross (before, during, after):

As well as drainage works over the last few years our contractor has carried out hedge and verge trimming for safety and visibility. The Parish Council also funded the work to repair the raised pavement at the bottom of East Street. North Molton has been praised by County for proactively tackling flooding and visibility issues.
